We continue our celebration of #HispanicHeritageMonth. Today we feature one of our most popular professors at CW. Those who take a class with him say you don’t really need a coffee. His enthusiasm is enough to stay alert and enjoy every minute of his class. We asked him a few questions regarding #HHM, and this is what he had to say

CW Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
Women's History Month - Dr. Stacy Larson
“Make it happen.” Those are some inspiring words to all the female students at CW and all those women looking for an opportunity to advance in their careers. Dr. Stacy Larson is the Dean of Faculty and Curriculum & Professor, General Education at The College of Westchester. As a woman in leadership, she knows the importance of education, networking, and creating your own opportunities.
Women's History Month - Dr. Erica Schacht
One class that every student should take is Transformative Learning. Many students are fortunate enough to take this course with Prof. Erica Schacht. This course introduces students to the value of change, personal growth and transformation. Students learn about reflective thinking, create positive personal outlook, and foster “behavior of success.” She is an inspiration for all students, but particularly for young women. As the Chairperson of the General Education department, Prof.
Black History Month - Daishia Howard
We continue to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth. Our guest today is Dr. Daishia Howard, Assistant Professor & Practicum Coordinator, School of Health Professions at The College of Westchester. Every day, but especially during Black History Month, she remembers some powerful words she received when she was a college student, “run your own race, everyone's journey is different, stay true to your journey because you can do whatever you set your mind to, YOU are ENOUGH.”
Black History Month - Dr. Shamva Wright-Shingler
To continue the celebrations of Black History Month, we now put the spotlight on Dr. Shamva Wright-Shingler, the Chairperson of The School of Health Professions at CW. She is loved by the students and respected by her colleagues. For Dr. Wright-Shingler, BHM is more than a month of remembrance, it’s the month that honors the rich history, experiences, struggles, and achievements of African Americans.
CW CIO Receives Info-Tech Award
Congratulations to CW’s CIO, Kelly Walsh for being a recipient of the Info-Tech Research Group 2020 CIO Awards. CW’s Latin Pulse
One student once said, “if you have Prof. Torres in a morning class, you won’t need coffee. He will keep you awake.” His enthusiasm and high energy are two of his most notable characteristics. He always encourages students to do their best and face all challenges with optimism, passion, and enthusiasm. Prof. Torres is a natural mentor, and he is always involved in projects that help our students. His Puertorican background helps him connect well with minority students, especially Hispanics.
