Scope

The College of Westchester (CW) is committed to protecting the privacy of all users of our Site: http://www.cw.edu. This privacy policy describes how CW collects, uses, and protects information collected from users of our Site. By using this website, you consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy. This policy applies to all of The College of Westchester websites.

Information we collect

When you visit our Site, we automatically collect the internet protocol (IP) address of your computer or device, the date and time of your visit and the page(s) you visited. We aggregate and analyze this information to help us improve the experience of users to our Site. To do this, we may share this information with third parties. Except in connection with our security procedures described below (“Information Security”) or in the case of information you provide, we do not attempt to collect and store personally identifiable information from individual users nor cause identifiers such as "cookies" to be stored on your machine.

Information you provide

You may choose to use The College of Westchester inquiry forms wherein you provide contact information (such as name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address). We may collect and store such contact information and the contents of your message so that we can respond to any questions or comments or otherwise improve our Site and services. When you provide contact information, you consent to receive our response or other information via the email address, mailing address, or telephone number provided.  If you email us, your message and email address may be collected and used to respond to your question or comments or to otherwise improve our Site and services. We will not use personally identifiable information you provide us via email or our inquiry forms for any other business purpose.  

Your Online Application

You may choose to complete our admissions application online. We comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the applicable provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) in protecting the educational records of our students. Information entered on your online admissions application form will be used to determine your admissibility and to register you for your selected education program upon acceptance to The College of Westchester. 

After you submit your online application, your application data will be removed from your application account on the Admission portal. If you begin an online application, your in-progress application account will be kept active for 1 year following your last date of access.  After this period of time, your Username and Password will become invalid and will require creating a new username and password to begin completing a new application.

We will not sell, rent or lease any data you enter into the online admissions application and will not use or disclose such data for purposes other than reviewing your admissibility, admitting and registering you as a CW student, and providing educational services.

If you decide to pay the application fee as part of the submission of your application, for billing purposes, we may share your name, address, and other personal  and financial information with a third party billing processor for billing purposes only.  Please note your obligation described below to notify the webmaster of any unauthorized access to your account and your responsibility for any account charges, loss or damage before such notification occurs.

Information Security

The security of your personal information is important to us. We take commercially reasonable measures and follow generally accepted standards to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of the information under our control, and to protect our computers, networks, servers, data, and systems from unauthorized access or malicious activity; however, we cannot guarantee the performance or adequacy of such security measures.

If you choose to use our online admissions application process, it is your responsibility to protect your user name and password. You agree to notify webmaster@cw.edu if you become aware of unauthorized use of your Username or Password and any other breach of security including unauthorized charges to your credit card account.  You agree that unless and until we receive notification from you of any such security violation, we are not responsible for any credit card account charges or other losses or damage.

Our Site may contain links to external websites. CW is not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of third parties or the content or security of such websites and, therefore, you should review privacy policies located on those websites.

Law Enforcement and Government Disclosures

We may disclose personally identifiable information to law enforcement without your consent pursuant to judicial or other government subpoenas, warrants, or orders or to otherwise comply with the law. 

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)

In order to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, we do not knowingly permit children less than 13 years of age to become users, and we do not knowingly collect information from such children. By using our websites, including providing contact information on CW's inquiry forms, you represent that you are not less than 13 years of age.

The College of Westchester reserves the right to change or modify this or other policies at any time. We will notify you about material changes in the way we treat personally identifiable information by posting a notice on our site. We encourage you to periodically check back and review this statement so that you always will know what information we collect, how we use it, and with whom we share it.
