It may not always seem this way, but there are millions of jobs out there that need to be filled.  Conveniently, you need a job! So how do you meet your perfect match? 

First, you need to get clear on the types of jobs you’re looking for. Knowing what you want is an important step it’s easy to overlook when first beginning a job search.  Talking with a career counselor at your school can be incredibly helpful when figuring out how to refine your search and present yourself.

When Memorial Day hits, most of us eagerly plunge into a long-awaited summer mode – beaches, barbecues, and amusement parks. We cannot help but to start savoring summer’s pleasures. But on nature’s calendar the season of summer doesn’t officially start until the Summer Solstice. And from ancient cultures until today, the Summer Solstice has presented a great opportunity to claim nature’s ripened abundance for ourselves.

If you’re on the hunt for a job this summer, you’ve likely got a whole checklist of must-do’s and best practices in your virtual back pocket. There are also a few things that you definitely should not do if you want to land a job. Being mindful about how you know (or don’t know) a potential connection is especially important, as is crafting a thoughtful “ask.

CW hosted “In Our Own Voices,” presented by our local NAMI chapter (the National Alliance on Mental Illness). Ron and Joanne shared their personal stories and discussed the five stages every person goes through when dealing with a mental illness:

Congrats to all the recent college grads out there! You’ve worked hard and have earned yourself a diploma and gained experience that can help open doors. You’re probably being bombarded with advice from all directions.

By now it’s no surprise that potential employers scope out your social media. You’re probably well aware of some of the most important ones to remove or hide (drunk pictures, for example), but there are a few important ones you may not have thought about. So yes, take down or remove tags on any pictures or posts where you’re under the influence, but also edit your profiles for grammatical errors, cursing, excessive selfies, and more.

Each year CW’s Allied Health Club hosts the “Spring Into Wellness” event. This health awareness event is a fun and interactive way to inform students, faculty, and staff on various health and wellness opportunities within the community. This year we had representatives from Blink Fitness, Epic Westchester Hybrid Training, JAG Physical Therapy, Westchester department of health, The College of Westchester Counseling Center, and Fly wheel sports.

Jayatri Dutta, Pauline Grandison, Wanda Hernandez, and Elida Loci have been awarded scholarships by The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) through the recommendation and efforts of Professor John Strange, Associate Chair of Accounting and member of IMA. These scholarships provide the recipients with a 3-year membership in IMA, a grant to cover the cost of the Certified Management Accountant Exam (CMA), and up to six months of free exam preparation support.
