A High School “Work from Home” Day

Park Ridge High School in New Jersey recently hosted its first-ever Virtual Day, during which students attended all classes from home. In-person classes were replaced with written assignments and video chats, using a software called Schoology (https://www.schoology.com/k-12 ). The school ultimately found the experiment successful, with post-event surveys reflecting high attendance.

Black History Month

We celebrate Black History Month all year through.  This auspicious remembrance gives us yet another opportunity to find ways to bring equity to all people.  There is still so much to do to bring all people up to the same salary level, to respect all equally, and fairly.  Here is one of my favorite illustrations by Angus McGuire, commissioned by Interaction Institute for Social Change, giving a simple example of what we need to do to respect and support all people.

CW Goes Red!

During the month of February, the American Heart Association promotes “Go Red for Women,” an educational movement that advocates for more research and increases awareness on women's heart health.

CW’s Allied Health Club showed their support and prepared a fundraiser to help raise funds for the American Heart Association. Pins, jewelry, healthy beverages and snacks were sold.

Operation Cupid in Full Swing

As part of the celebrations for Valentine’s Day, Operation Cupid was in full swing last Thursday when members of the CW community and the Stars & Stripes club delivered over 60 roses around the building. The $5.00 Operation Cupid package included a single rose, a chocolate, and a card delivered to a person that makes a difference on the sender’s life. All recipients were happy to receive such a unique gift and celebrated the Spirit of Valentine’s Day.

The Winter Semester Student Recognition/Club Day 2016 took place in the Student Center to honor the best students of last Fall. With Esperanza Cruz, Students Affairs Administrative Coordinator, serving as M.C., students were honored for their achievements last term.
