Students Lead the Charge to Help Local Youth Bureau

One of the ways The College of Westchester’s Student Government Association (SGA) celebrated Women’s History Month during the month of March was by holding a collection drive of personal hygiene products to be donated to the Mount Vernon Youth Bureau and distributed to young women and families in need.

On Tuesday, April 6, student leaders Chyanne Landell and Nia Barrett delivered these items to the Mount Vernon Youth Bureau! CW was thanked by Debbie Burrell Butler, Executive Director, and Dena Williams, Deputy Director of the Mount Vernon Youth Bureau, as well as City Government.

Items donated included 156 children’s dental kits, donated by the Westchester Medical Center Department of Dental Medicine, and assembled by CW’s SGA, over 100 other items including soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, mouthwash, sanitary products, diapers, and more.

Women’s History Month calls us not only to honor women who made history, but also to support women in need who are creating their own legacies today.
