Congratulations to Crystal Garcia and Johny Arpi who have been selected as Students of the Semester for the Day College

Crystal and Johny have been selected for this distinguished accolade by the Day College Faculty because of their 3.8+ GPA, demonstrated academic excellence, and overall dedication to their studies. Read more about Crystal and Johny here:

Crystal Garcia was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Nanuet, New York. Crystal went to Nanuet High School and graduated in 2017. She also served in the U.S. Army for four years, where she was a Sergeant in an Infantry Unit.

Crystal is set to graduate December 2023, with a bachelor's degree in accounting. Her commitment to excellence is reflected in her outstanding academic achievements at The College of Westchester; such achievements include a  4.0 GPA and her earning a spot on the President's List every semester since her enrollment.

Crystal’s decision to attend The College of Westchester was driven by the fact that CW is a local college where she could commute to easily. She also enjoys the small class size class environments. She values the personalized learning experience and believes it gives her the ability to learn faster and perform exceptionally well. Crystal is also the president of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) and serves as a Councilmember for the Student Government Association. Aside of all her extracurricular activities, Crystal is also a marathon runner.

Looking ahead, Crystal sees herself advancing her education with a master’s degree in forensic accounting upon graduation. She is particularly intrigued by the investigative aspect of accounting, specifically fraud examination. Her aspiration is to land a job within this field, where she can utilize her skills and passion. Crystal is open to where the world wants to take her, she’s excited about the future and is ready to embrace the opportunities that come her way.

Johny E. Arpi was born in Waterbury, Connecticut and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. He chose CW and its Medical Assistant Management program because he wanted to make a positive change in his life.  Since enrolling in the Fall of 2022, Johny has successfully landed on the Dean’s list each semester. Johny is on track to graduate in 2024 with his associate degree, and upon graduation, his career goal is to become a medical assistant.  He also aspires to be a cardiologist one day.

Johny lives in Peekskill with his mom and three brothers.
