First Generation College Student Week at CW-Mohammed Konneh

It’s First Generation Week and we are glad to present the first round of students who shared their stories with us. A first-generation college graduate refers to a person who has completed at least a bachelor's degree but does not have a parent who has completed at least a bachelor's degree. The purpose of #FirstGenerationWeek is to celebrate those students and their families for this big milestone of having a first college graduate in the family. We asked several students a few questions and here are their answers. Let’s begin with Mohammed Konneh.

Who or what inspires you to get your degree and why?
My parents inspired me to earn my degree because they regretted why they didn't go to school after seeing their peers holding positions in the Government and NGO's.

How will earning your college degree change your life and the lives of your family members?
Earning my college degree will positively change my life and the lives of my family because after obtaining my college degree I am optimistic that I am going to have a better job that would help me change my life and my family.

One day, you will be a first generation college graduate. Who do you hope your story will inspire?
My story will inspire my other young siblings who are still going to high school.

What do you wish the College knew about you?
My courage and passion about education
