The College of Westchester Professor Publishes New Horror Short Story in Upcoming Issue of Horrorsmith Magazine

The College of Westchester is proud to announce that Professor Christian De Matteo, Professor and Associate Chair of the General Education Department, will have his latest short story, “The Replacement Ghost,” published in the June 2026 issue of Horrorsmith Magazine.

This newest publication follows De Matteo’s November 2025 publication of “The Nest” in The Bleeding Margin Magazine, a quarterly literary journal dedicated to literary horror, mystery, thriller fiction, poetry, and art.

A passionate educator and accomplished writer, De Matteo has long blended his love of storytelling with his dedication to helping students develop strong communication and creative writing skills. At CW, he works closely with students in the classroom, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and confidence in written expression.

Beyond academia and writing, De Matteo is the founder and CEO of Tellworthy Creative Writing Services, where he provides writing coaching, editing, manuscript critique, and creative consulting services for writers and professionals. He is also the Editor-in-Chief and co-founder of Fugitive Poems, an independent storytelling and comics initiative focused on imaginative fiction and visual narrative.

His creative work spans fiction, screenwriting, comics, and literary horror, with stories that explore psychological tension, atmosphere, and the unsettling corners of the human experience. The publication of “The Replacement Ghost” marks another exciting milestone in his growing body of published work and continues to highlight the creative talent found within the CW community.

De Matteo earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from Columbia University and his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
