The College of Westchester vigorously supports a strong academic advising program. Every student at The College is assigned an academic advisor. Academic advising is designed to foster and promote a positive and productive faculty/student relationship. Academic Advising is also designed to aid in student retention, and to provide a platform for student success, both academically and professionally. Students meet with their advisors periodically to discuss their schedules, their academic progress, and address any questions or concerns they might have. The goal of advising is to help students attain success at the College of Westchester and beyond.
The Counseling Center at The College of Westchester provides free individual counseling services to all students experiencing both personal and academic issues. Students have the ability to attend once a week counseling sessions or come on a “walk-in” basis when concerns arise. Topics discussed may include but are not limited to: academic concerns, anxiety, depression, relationships, parenting, acculturation, and stress. The Counseling Center’s mission is to assist students in developing their full potential within both The College of Westchester and their personal lives alike. CW offers one-on-one counseling between a student and a counselor. With an "open door policy", students can walk in and talk at any moment.
