Congratulations to Diana Nicholson, and Mirjana Lufaj, from the CW Evening Division, who have been selected as Students of the Semester.
Diana and Mirjana have been selected for this distinguished accolade by the Evening and Online Faculty because of their 3.8+ GPA, demonstrated academic excellence, and overall dedication to their studies. Read more about Diana and Mirjana here:
Diana was born in Clarendon, Jamaica, and attended Garvey Maceo Comprehensive High School, a prominent school in Vernamfield Clarendon. She has lived in the City of Yonkers for almost three years. Diana is a practice nurse, a phlebotomist, and EKG technician.
Diana chose The College of Westchester because she was incredibly impressed with the Health Administration program, and she later transitioned to studying Business Administration. However, what truly sealed the deal for Diana was the amiable nature of the CW faculty members.
Choosing Business Administration as her major was one of the best and most rewarding decisions Diana had ever made in her life. She excelled in the program as proved by being awarded the Dr. Milton E. Cagan Memorial Award, and having received President’s List a multitude of times. Diana is also a Certified Digital Marketing Associate, which she gained upon completion of her Social Media and Marketing course. She graduated on June 1, 2023 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Diana’s goal is to use her degree to gain experience in the various aspects of Business Administration. It is also her goal to pursue a Master of Science degree in Marketing/ Business Administration.
Diana has been married for 22 years and has two daughters. Her husband and eldest daughter graduated from The College of Westchester in June 2022 with Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and Associate respectively. Diana is a Christian woman who believes she can do all things through Christ who strengthens her.
Mirjana Lufaj was born and raised in Albania and moved to the United States 16 years ago where she currently resides in Tuckahoe. It was her dream to graduate College, but as an immigrant, she was faced with an abundance of challenges. 
When Mirjana’s two children grew up, the opportunity came for her to start school again. She chose The College of Westchester because the moment she walked in she was welcomed and guided by the friendly faculty and staff. The overwhelming support at CW felt right and comforting to her.
Mirjana is currently enrolled in the Health Information Management program. Earning the President’s List Award is just one of her numerous successes at CW. The College of Westchester has provided Mirjana with an amazing opportunity to continue her education and to start a career in the Healthcare Industry.
Mirjana is eager to graduate in May 2024 with an Associate Degree in Health Information Management. Once she accomplishes this dream, she hopes to be a professional manager in a healthcare facility. Mirjana could not achieve this goal without the incredible guidance of The College of Westchester and her family’s astounding support. With determination and hard work, Mirjana’s dreams have come true.
