Day College Student of Semester Shahine Clarke

Shahine was raised in St. James, Jamaica where she attended The Montego Bay High school for girls, one of the most elite traditional schools in the country. She migrated to the United States at the age of 15 where she continued her high school term at Saint Barnabas High school located in the Bronx.

Shahine chose The College of Westchester because she was looking for a school that values her needs for a higher education and understands the importance of the student-teacher relationship.  The College gave her a sense of family and support, hence the reason she committed to complete. Shahine majors in Accounting and is a recipient of the Marc Polcek Memorial Accounting Award. She is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Beta Delta and has been on the President list for all her semesters at the college.

One of Shahine’s career goal is to become a successful leader who will set an example for people around her. Shahine will graduate in June of 2022 with her bachelor's in accounting.  She aspires to become a Certified Public Accountant and a United States Naval Officer and will undoubtedly continue to make her family and friends proud.

Day College Student of Semester Mariley Parra

Mariely was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. With dreams and aspirations, she came to the United States at the age of 13. After graduating high school at the International School of Liberal Arts in the Bronx, Mariely started to pursue what seemed to be her dreams. After one year of going for her bachelor's in Business Administration at another institution, her expectations were not being met, so she decided to transfer to The College of Westchester to finish her associate degree.

Transferring to CW has been one of the best decisions Mariely has made. She has found more than a place to learn, she has found people that inspire her and push her to her best potential. One of Mariely’s accomplishments include being named recipient of the John F. Sterling Business Administration Award at the 2022 Commencement Ceremony, where she also graduated magna cum laude.

Mariely hopes to obtain her degree in Business Administration, while working as a real estate agent. Her long-term goal, with the help of God and her effort, is to own an agency.
