National Distance Learning Week - Kimone

Being a mom is already a full-time job, but being a mom of twins, all responsibilities are multiplied by two. However, when you also include having a full time job, and pursuing a college degree, is something that only Kimone can answer. As part of the “National Distance Learning Week” we are exploring the different benefits you’ll find when you decide to follow your dreams and obtain your college degree. If Kimone is doing it, you can do it as well.

Who or what inspires you to earn your degree at CW? Why?

As an immigrant coming to America where there are more opportunities inspires me a lot. I have gotten the opportunity that will change my life. Also my twin girls are one of my biggest motivations. At times when I feel like giving up, the thought of them keeps me grounded and always pushing and thriving for the best.

How will earning your college degree change your life and the lives of your family members?
Earning my degree will enable the opportunities that I'm hoping for, and flexibility to choose where I work. Also, many job possibilities will open to me.

Who do you hope your story will inspire?
I hope my story will inspire other immigrants, full time moms and moms that work full time.

How has online learning influenced your opportunity to earn your degree? Would you have earned a degree if you were not able to attend online?
Online learning has influenced my opportunity to earn my degree in an amazing way. Attaining an online degree is so convenient and flexible for me, as I am a full time mom of two energetic toddlers, I work full-time, and the commute from where I live to go to in person on campus would be very difficult. So I do appreciate online learning, even though it takes a lot of discipline and dedication. Yes, I still would have earned a degree if I wasn’t able to attend college because obtaining my degree was one of my goals.
