What’s our next move at CW?  Remote Classes Continue….

Although we would have all hoped otherwise, what we are learning from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and our local government health agencies is that the current Coronavirus pandemic is likely to continue to be a health risk until sometime between March and June of next year.  The thinking is that it will begin to lessen when most Americans have the opportunity to complete a course of vaccine inoculations against Covid-19.  If you follow our regional news, you know that the Governor has initiated a new early warning process that could close businesses and schools in the area(s) where incidences of the virus increase.

In order to ensure that CW’s students and staff remain safe and to help us all better plan for the upcoming Winter Day Semester and Spring Evening Term, CW had made the decision to move to fully remote learning for all new and continuing students with some exceptions likely for certain lab classes. This is the case with many colleges across the US, and certainly here in the tri-state area.

Students may continue to make appointments to visit with us in person or virtually in admissions, student financial aid appointments, as well as to visit the library, with advisors and coaches, tutors, the learning center and mental health counseling.  When students have requested a quiet place to work on campus, we can accommodate a limited number, first come, first served, in order to social distance properly.  Check in with your advisor or admissions counselor or check on the CW Everywhere App to contact anyone at CW directly.  On the app, click on the icon that looks like a building, then find Directory of Services for a full listing of contact info for every department.  Every single club also has a wall listed under Student Life, also under the same icon.

In other news, we still have not heard whether our basketball league is going to be playing this Winter.  I would encourage any basketball players to go on the CW Everywhere App and join the Esports League.  Quite a few of your fellow students are participating virtually this year.  I know many of you have that competitive spirit and want to participate in some kind of sports program.

You can also access our learning management system (LMS), Moodle, through the app if you want or need to use your phone for class.

If you are a First Generation College student and want to share your story, fill out the short survey below; you can even include your photo!  You could be featured on social media during National First Generation College Student Week at CW!  Looking forward to reading your stories!

Even though we are still remote, we will be holding the usual Honors Induction for high-flying students on November 19.  It will be held remotely but happily and with much excitement for our new group of CW honors students.

We continue to persevere through highly unusual times.  If you want or need to be in touch, you may message directly to me on the CW Everywhere App, or email me at president@cw.edu.  As we move into the Holiday season, I wish you and yours only the very best wishes for health, happiness and prosperity.  And remember, we are CW Warrior Strong!
