CW Students Travel to Albany

Tuesday, March 1, 2016

More than 60 students, faculty, and administrators from New York’s degree-granting proprietary colleges visited Albany to acknowledge lawmakers for supporting the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). The reason was to encourage them to restore the maximum TAP award for students attending colleges that offer only two-year degree programs.

Our CW delegates were part of a group representing New York’s Association of Proprietary Colleges (APC), easily identified by their blue and white scarves. Students lobbying for TAP in Albany were Malcolm Bennett, Devoncia Boatswain, Claudia Cherrington, Blanca Martinez, Jazmin Patino, Brittany Rosario, and Desiree Stretching, as well as CW’s President Ms. Mary Beth Del Balzo, Dr. Shamva Wright-Shingler and Administrator Maria Gangi. Our students also met with Michael Blake, NYS Assembly member from The Bronx.
