A strong team player and dedicated, persistent student are some of the characteristics that define Shahine Clarke. She is an Accounting major at The College of Westchester and a First-Generation college student.
Who or what inspires you to earn your degree? Why?
I've always wanted to further my education and keep growing professionally. Gaining more knowledge can never hurt! My family inspires me; they are the ones that keep me motivated.
How will earning your college degree change your life and the lives of your family members?
I will have more opportunities in the labor market such as getting the job that I desire so that I can provide wealth to my family.
One day, you will be a first-generation college graduate. Who do you hope your story will inspire?
I hope my story will inspire my siblings to do the same and make themselves and the family proud.
What do you wish the College knew about you?
I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Jamaica. I love to embrace my culture.
