Dear CW Student:
I hope all is well with you today! Thank you for taking the time to read or view this blog. If you are a student about to graduate, congratulations! If you are just starting at CW, welcome! To all of our students, thank you for not just persisting through this time of COVID, but thriving. You deserve to graduate and be successful!!
This is an announcement about CW’s plan for the Fall. If you are a day or adult student, we have planned on a mix of hybrid, online and some on-campus opportunities, as listed below. Online students continue their studies and services completely online.
Day and Adult students can choose to access all student services, activities and attend all classes remotely if they wish. We will be in touch to give you your specific schedule very shortly. In this post, we will cover Safety, Class Scheduling, Student Activities and Student Services.
There have been many preparations and great care given to the health and wellbeing of our entire campus community. All CDC recommended safety guidelines for college campuses in New York State are in place. Expect a health screening each time you visit CW.
Masks are required, covering your nose and mouth at all times while you are on campus.
CW is providing face masks and shields, hand sanitizer and wipes, performing daily deep hospital grade cleaning of all offices and common areas and cleaning throughout the day including all high-touch surfaces. Along with the installation of plexiglass or tempered glass panels in high traffic areas, CW is in the process of upgrading the HVAC system to include ultraviolet light purification to help reduce contaminants in the air. There are capacity restrictions and directional signage throughout the college. This video shows some of the new safety features added on campus.
What will Fall classes look like?
First Semester Day College Freshman Students: Our goal is for freshman students to experience college in a safe environment and connect with their CW family. Most courses will be taught fully remotely; however, for two courses you will meet on campus with your instructors and classmates one day per week, most likely courses in your major. For students who have health-related risk factors or those who prefer not to attend classes on campus, that option will be available; you can contact your admissions counselor or academic advisor.
New and Continuing Adult Students: Students in evening session classes will continue to participate in synchronous, fully remote learning at your scheduled class times.
Students in Lab Classes: Certain laboratory classes requiring special equipment, or the practicing of clinical skills will include an on-campus lab component. Safety measures including full PPE protocol will be observed. Day college laboratory sessions will most likely be scheduled for Fridays. Adult College students will receive lab schedules upon registration meetings with each student’s advisor.
Remote learning - With the exception of certain laboratory courses as noted above, all continuing students will participate in synchronous, remote learning.
Specific assignment deadlines and class times - There are scheduled class meeting times and assignment due dates.
Flexibility - The College is aware that you may be an essential worker, caregiver or someone who may require certain flexibility in meeting attendance and assignment deadlines. Speak with your instructors and academic advisor if such flexibility is required.
Online Division Students: no changes to delivery format or student services access.
Many students want to meet others and experience college life outside of the classroom.
Activities are available remotely in areas such as student government, clubs and a new eSports program. Each club will have their own CW Everywhere wall accessible on the CW Everywhere App.
Access to Student Services - All CW Student Services including The Learning Center, Library, Book Store, Career Services, Financial Assistance, Academic Services, Advising and the Counseling Center have posted hours on the CW Everywhere App/Student Services & Hours. You may access phone sessions, Zoom or on-campus visits by appointment.
The CW Everywhere App - The App continues to be a great communication tool. I highly recommend that you download and utilize the App, available in the App Store for iPhone and Android. All staff contact information is also accessible on the App.
