High-Tech Cures For Bad Posture

Fri, 07/21/2017

Hunched over out computers, stooped and squinting into our phones—with the majority of us spending over 10 hours a day looking at a screen of some kind, terrible posture has become the norm. Aside from looking sloppy, poor posture can lead to back pain, shoulder pain, and headaches.  The American Posture Institute estimates that over 80% of people suffer from back pain—often as a result of their screen time.  This can impact our day-to-day functioning and even out long-term health. It’s also been shown to affect our productivity.

In this article for Fast Company, writer Rita Raphael tries out five different high-tech solutions to see which ones actually work.

For a lower-tech solution, you could also try good old-fashioned stretching, regular breaks to stand up and walk around, or approaches like chair yoga. Curious about chair yoga? Try this 20-minute flow from Amanda Ree Ringnalda for the Chopra Center.
