Back-to-School Tech Without Breaking The Bank

Tue, 08/30/2016

Being connected is key for online students. Engaging with your class, reviewing materials, and even taking exams requires students to use technology to get their work done. Studies also show that the majority of students use a mobile device to access course materials, whether it’s reading on their tablets, using a calendar app to note assignments and exam dates, or scheduling alerts to keep them aware of deadlines, or accessing email on the go.

It’s important to make sure your software and hardware can suit your needs. The downside for many students is that devices like computers, phones, and tablets are expensive. You don’t have to go broke just to keep up, though. Here are a few ways to cut down on costs:

-Shop Sales: Lots of stores offer back-to-school deals. Check it out and compare before whipping out your credit card.
-Ask About Student Discounts: Many retailers offer discounts for students and teachers. Don’t be afraid to ask.
-Consider Used: Refurbished and gently used devices can work just as well as brand new.
-Visit your local library or business store: these types of facilities often have computers available where you can surf the web and print out materials.

When in doubt, reach out to your school and see if they have any resources for you to explore.
