Spring into Wellness

Wed, 03/23/2016

“Spring is the perfect time to take the first step to go back into wellness,” said Allied Health student Christina. “If you don’t feel healthy you won’t be able to do anything… today we’re promoting being healthy.”

The Spring into Wellness annual event proved to be a huge success once again. Students, staff, and faculty were able to visit vendors’ booths who supplied them not only with nutritious snacks and treats, but also with clinical screenings such as measurements, vital signs, and blood screenings. “These screenings are not as simple as they look; we really need to have the knowledge. Also these skills will help us in the future no matter what career we choose as we’ll need these skills for Radiology or Pediatrics for example,” said Medical Assistant Management student, Colin.

Since the first rule to good health is from the inside out, the event included some basic yoga posture demonstrations, support groups, and lots of healthy eating tips, “food is a major problem that prevents many to living a healthy life. Junk food is more affordable and can be found almost anywhere,” said Gabrielle, also a Medical Assistant Management student.

Some of the companies and organizations attending included the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI-Westchester), Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, and the Breast & Ovarian Cancer Support organization.
