It’s National Distance Learning Week!
Running a family and pursuing a college degree, seem like mission impossible for many people. However, with Online Learning, CW student Lillian found the perfect balance. We asked her about her experience with distance learning and here’s what she had to say.
Distance Learning is effective for everybody, but especially for those who have a job and run a house. Online programs allow students to earn a high-quality education with the flexibility to balance their studies with work and home life. CW student Shantel perfectly knows the benefits of distance learning and is currently pursuing her degree at CW, hoping to continue her work in the health industry.
For CW student Denise, 2020 was a struggle as the pandemic hit hard in her life. Nevertheless, she has been fighting not only to recover from her personal losses, but also to obtain her college degree. Denise is definitely a great example of a CW warrior. She is a resilient and great fighter to pursue her dreams, no matter the obstacles.

National Distance Learning Week (NDLW) was created to generate greater awareness and appreciation for distance learning while recognizing leaders and best practices in the field. This method of learning has taken center stage with the pandemic as it has been the only solution for students to continue with their education.
We are ending #FirstGenerationWeek, but we are not done yet with all the wonderful stories we want to share with you. Marcia Maita loves serving and helping people. She has a job in the health industry and she loves it. However, she understands that in order to be able to help even more, she needs a college degree.
Kerly Loja chases all opportunities available for her. Coming from a developing country where professional opportunities are limited, she values even more the opportunity she has to obtain a college education. As part of our celebration of #FirstGenerationWeek we share a Q&A we had with Kerly:
Kerian Adams believes that it is never too late to study and obtain your college degree. She wants to become a professional to prove to herself she is capable of doing anything she wants, but also serve as a role model to inspire her kids to become professionals when the time comes. During #FirstGenerationWeek, Kerian shares her story.
For over 100 years CW has graduated thousands of students who are now working on several companies in our area. CW student Jennifer hopes to be a successful professional inspiring other Latinos to pursue their dreams. That is the purpose of #FirstGenerationWeek, to celebrate and inspire students to pursue their dreams and obtain a college degree to improve the quality of their families. Here’s Jennifer’s story:
It’s First Generation Week and we are glad to present the first round of students who shared their stories with us. A first-generation college graduate refers to a person who has completed at least a bachelor's degree but does not have a parent who has completed at least a bachelor's degree. The purpose of #FirstGenerationWeek is to celebrate those students and their families for this big milestone of having a first college graduate in the family.
