Maryanne DeSalvo

Presenter, High School & Community Relations

Maryanne came to The College of Westchester (CW) with 10 years of corporate experience in fundraising, healthcare, management, sales and customer service. Before joining The High School Team, she served as a CW Admissions Counselor inspiring students and adults to pursue their career goals through education.

Maryanne's background as a professional singer makes her presentation skills particularly unique. Some of her musical credits include: Performing on Manhattan Neighborhood Network-The Vinny Vella Show, competing in American Idol, singing the National Anthem for Mayor Bloomberg's campaign events, being featured on Dennis Nardone's WVOX a.m. Radio Show, and winning 1st Place in Westchester's Singing Idol Contest.

Maryanne currently is a vocalist with the Wedding Band "Stolen Moments" and public band "House Arrest." She earned her Associate in Business Management at CW and graduated from Concordia College with a Bachelor's in Business Management.


Karen Tellekamp

Karen Tellekamp is the newest addition to our High School Team and is excited to join CW. She developed excellent presentation skills while working in the nutrition industry. Karen grew up in Rockville Centre, NY and competed as a swimmer on the national level through high school. She earned a Bachelor's in Human Development at Boston College where she continued to swim all four years. With a passion for education, she pursued her Master's in School Counseling at the University of San Diego and enjoyed the sunshine on the west coast for three years. Karen is excited to be back in New York and thrilled to visit with you and your students.


Nick Sekkas

Presenter, High School & Community Relations

Nick returns to the High School & Community Relations Team after working as an in-house Admissions Counselor at CW for the past two years. He presented in high schools for CW from 2006 to 2008 and brings a wealth of knowledge of public speaking and the college admissions process.

Nick graduated from University of Maryland with a Bachelor's in Broadcast Journalism in 2006, served as the Director of Broadcast and Media Relations for the Aberdeen IronBirds, a minor league affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and has broadcasted over 200 minor league games. He also worked for ESPN Radio 1230 in Fayetteville, North Carolina and hosted "The Nick Sekkas Show" from 2008 to 2010. While in Fayetteville, he was the radio voice of Fayetteville State Football, Methodist University Basketball, and the Fayetteville Guard Arena Football Team. Nick also worked as a sports reporter for News 12 Westchester and The Journal News.

Combining his public speaking background with his media experience and knowledge of CW, Nick inspires students to pursue their education and be successful.


Colleen Barnes McGourty

Colleen is one of the newest members or our team and hails from Worcester, Massachusetts.

Colleen graduated from Manhattan College with a Bachelor's in International Studies and was a participant in National Model United Nations.

Colleen's past career success in event planning and customer service is credited to her solutions approach which she applies with care to CW and High School appointments and events. Another musician, as a member of the Westchester & District Pipe Band, Colleen is a competitive drummer.
