However, as different class formats such as online and hybrid courses change the landscape, more people are pushing for a learning-based system, where students advance based on how well they demonstrate competency in relevant skills and knowledge.

Microsoft and the YMCA visit CW

Cindy Rubino CEO of the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester and Cindy Wager-Meyer, Community Development Specialist of the Microsoft store in Westchester visited CW to get marketing feedback from the students. The Marketing and Management class shared ideas on bringing more traffic to the Microsoft Store and the YMCA. Students also provided feedback on specific social media marketing campaigns recently executed by the YMCA.

Toy Drive

SGA and Phi Theta Kappa students Calving Miley, Brittany Rosario, and Susan Paniagua Santos, along with SGA moderator Terry Keyes delivered toys contributed for this year's Toy Drive campaign to the White Plains Hospital. The staff from the Pediatrics Ward offered their gratitude as CW students distributed the toys in the hospital.

How Younger Students Can Make the Best of Online College Courses

An increasing number of 18 to 24 year-olds now complete at least some of their college coursework online. Though the flexibility to work from virtually anywhere, anytime can be an asset, some structure may be helpful, whether it’s living close to where the program is based, considering hybrid courses, or taking advantage of additional offerings like student success courses.

Portfolio Review Day

Getting your creative work reviewed and making sure your portfolio will shine and speak for itself during a job interview, is not an easy task for both the students and reviewers. However, once you listen to what CW students have to say, the actual review just turns into an enjoyable conversation. “I talk to hipsters through my art because I’m one of them,” said Digital Media student Carolina, while showing us her portfolio.

Holiday Extravaganza!

The holiday festivities are just starting to ramp up at CW. The Allied Health Club hosted the Holiday Extravaganza that included games, prizes, food for sale, and The Ugly Sweater Contest. Students, Faculty, and Staff enjoyed watching some really “festive” and colorful sweaters.

Welcome New Adult Students

Orientation Day is an opportunity for newcomers to be introduced to campus, faculty and staff members. It is also a great opportunity to network with other new students. We want all new students to ‘be in-the-know’ and kick-start their first semester the right way. CW welcomed our evening students during yesterday’s Adult College Fall II New Student Orientation. Students were greeted by Dr. Warren Rosenberg, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.
