Graduate Career Fair

The Office of Career Services held a Graduate Career Fair with 28 employers looking for local talent. Many of the grads filled out applications and had on the spot interviews. Some of the companies that attended the Grad Career Fair included MTA Metro-North Railroad, NYS Dept. of Taxation & Finance, People’s United Bank, and WESTMED Medical Group.

Good luck to all attendees, and thanks to all the companies for recruiting at The College of Westchester!

A Career Adventure

The Summer Exploration Academy for rising High School Juniors and Seniors at The College of Westchester, wrapped up the season with very interesting four-week courses and trips to New York City. This year’s trips included the Sony Wonder Technology Lab, Google New York Headquarters, Body Worlds in Times Square, and The Wall Street Experience Tour. The purpose of the Summer Exploration Academy at CW is to gain insight into business, healthcare, digital media and computer technology.

The Liberty Science Center

The Allied Health Club, along with some faculty members visited “The Liberty Science Center” in Jersey City, NJ. The students first enjoyed the movie “Humpback Whales,” followed by a featured presentation allowing the students to take a dive into the world of humpback whales and learn about their social structure, courtship and reproduction, as well as interspecies interactions.

The New NY Bridge

As part of the Project Management Class, Professor Paula Cancro took her class to the Tappan Zee Bridge Community Outreach Center and Viewing Platform in Tarrytown. The purpose of the visit was to understand how the construction of a new bridge can involve so many phases and different teams working on a single project. The first span of the new twin-span bridge is scheduled to open in 2016, and the new bridge should be completed in 2018. Prof.

Getting your work reviewed and making sure your portfolio will shine and speak for itself during a job interview, is not an easy task. Digital Media Students Migdalia, Brandon, and William had the opportunity to get their work reviewed by members of the Faculty and Staff at CW. The students received the feedback really well and felt better prepared for a real job interview.

5 Inexpensive and Healthy Study Snacks

Excelling in school requires the proper fuel to keep you focused and energized even when you’re clocking long hours studying and working on projects. Unfortunately, a lot of popular snack foods students reach for may do more harm than good in the long run. Many packaged items sold in vending machines and convenience stores can be packed with more calories, sugar, and salt than needed without much to offer in the way of actual nourishment.

Congratulations to Student of the Semester, Bequine Renee Clark!

Bequine Renee Clark was born in Baltimore, MD and attended Joppatowne Senior High School. Before making The College of Westchester her second home, Bequine obtained an AAS Degree in Respiratory Therapy from Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, SC. While looking for the perfect college in New York, Bequine chose The College of Westchester because she enjoys small class sizes and the location was very convenient.
